castigate |ˈkastəˌgāt| verb [ trans. ] to reprimand (someone) severely
Today, I have some strong words for some people, in regards to their word choices.
I tolerate foul language. Fuck dude, I have foul language pouring out of every orifice I possess. I do, however, have my standards to which words in my foul vocabulary I use. As you can tell, this is turning into one of those “words you shouldn’t use” lessons. And you’re fuckin’ right, shit sniffers. But it’s also a more broad, conceptual life idea that applies to many other subjects. I am going to describe some stories, three in fact, and hopefully you will see the general theme of the matter.
I pose a scenario: I am chilling with the bros, throwing back some root beers, courtesy of “Chad.” Unfortunately, Chad becomes upset, and says “Ok you lousy cock stains, pay up for all the root brews you’ve drank.” Turkish, in his typical fashion, says, “Oh you Jew.”
Another scenario: Donald is traveling down the street, in his shiny Mini Cooper, when along comes a big ol’ Peterbilt truck, piloted by an individual not skilled in the ways of the road, who rudely cuts off the fiery Donald. Angered by this display of incompetence, Donald shouts “Learn to drive nigger!”
Finally: Back to the bros. After Chad’s request for reimbursement, we just blew him off, “Yeah right Chad.” So we’re chillin’ and Brian poops his pants, then proceeds to toss it at, who else but, Turkish, who, in a rage, shouts, “You’re so fucking gay.”
Are we seeing the trend?
It’s the tendency of people to use discriminatory language as derogatory language. Fundamentally, this is wrong on many levels. By declaring being a part of said groups is negative, you declare that group to be inferior or negative. Therefore, using such language is being discriminatory. There is no such thing as good discrimination.
Since I’ve fully understood this, I have been pushing the people around me to adopt other forms of insultery. Because when you insult using discrimination, you learn to become discriminatory.
A castigation.
